About Short-Term Insurance:
Short-term insurance is a very fast moving, challenging and competitive environment where innovation and agility are the keys to success.
The industry is driven by the pricing of risk which is based on an in-depth understanding of exposure and affected by changes in solvency requirements, economic cycles, weather patterns and market sentiments, all resulting in a strong reliance on the actuarial and data analytics skillset.
About King Price Insurance:
Located in Menlyn Corporate Park, Pretoria, King Price is the fastest growing insurer in South Africa and aims to be on the forefront of innovation, technical ability and company culture. Confucius said that if you do what you love you will never work a day in your life and we aim to be a testament to this.
Our motor insurance premiums decrease monthly as the value of your car depreciates, a world-first initiative which provides a unique challenge and necessitates exceptional actuarial skills-sets. We also cover everything from Buildings to Home Contents cover and we’re hard at work on extending the King Price market offerings in the near future.
About the programme:
In our quest to find the very best and brightest talent the country has to offer, we run a 3-6 month actuarial internship program. In the program we will endeavour to teach you as much as possible, giving you more responsibility as you progress and assessing how well you fit in to our company and this line of work. After 3 months we will offer permanent employment to the strongest individuals, a 3 month extension to candidates that we are pleased with and we could then also opt not to continue with struggling candidates. Please find more details on the exposure you will receive on the last page.
Why it’s a win-win:
Regardless of the outcome, you get at least 3 months’ worth of experience from a ground-breaking insurer which will launch you in your career wherever you go to next. You also get a great shot at proving yourself worth to be a part of an exceptional team in a booming company.
Who are we looking for:
We want ambitious, well-rounded and innovative Actuarial/Risk/Mathematics/Statistics/Financial Engineering/Econometrics/Physics students. Basically we would consider anyone with a quantitative degree and a great desire to grow and be a part of something big.
