In a nutshell

Businesses face many threats every day. But, the king understands that protecting your royal family is your top priority. That's why we'll cover you for any legal liability following injury to an employee that happens in the course of, or in connection with, their service to you.

  • Public liability (claims made and claims incurred): You're covered for damages you become legally liable to pay, arising from the accidental death of, or bodily injury to, illness or accidental loss or damage to others or their tangible property… If these occurred in the course of or in connection with your business.
  • Acquisition and new business.
  • Additional insured.
  • Car parks (parking facilities provided by you).
  • Cross liabilities (the insured stated on your policy schedule are indemnified separately).
  • Emergency medical expenses.
  • Employees' and visitors' property.
  • Extended reporting.
  • Gratuitous advice (we will cover you where you unintentionally failed to perform your legal duty to exercise due care in providing technical information or advice).
  • Tools of trade (as long as it doesn't fall within motor insurance or compulsory third-party insurance).
  • Unattached trailers (as long as it's not insured by another policy or falls within compulsory third-party insurance).
  • Liability arising from injuries to employees or apprentices.
  • Damage to property belonging to you or your employees or in your custody or control (with exceptions and conditions as stated on your policy schedule).
  • Damage to that part of any property on which you are or have been working, if the damage is a direct result of that work.
  • Damage to underground cables, pipes and conduits caused while digging trenches.
  • Liability in connection with advice or treatment of a professional nature (except for incidental first-aid treatment) given or administered by you or at your direction.
  • Liability in connection with the possession or use by you, or on your behalf, of any mechanically propelled motor, trailer, watercraft or rolling stock (with exceptions and conditions as stated on your policy schedule).
  • Liability in connection with any aircraft, refuelling of aircraft and the ownership, possession, maintenance, operation or use of an aircraft or airline as well as the ownership, hiring or leasing of any airport, airstrip or helicopter pad.
  • Goods or products (including containers) sold or supplied and where the injury occurs elsewhere than on your premises (unless otherwise stated on your policy schedule).
  • Liability arising after the completion and handing over of any work.
  • Incidents of which you knew (but didn't inform King Price) that occurred prior to your start of cover under this section.
  • Damage caused by vibration, the removal or weakening or interference with support to any land, building or structure.
  • Liability assumed by you (with exceptions and conditions as stated on your policy schedule).
  • Fines, penalties, punitive, exemplary or vindictive damages.
  • Damages in respect of judgments delivered or obtained in a court of competent jurisdiction within South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Swaziland and Malawi (with conditions as stated on your policy schedule).
  • Claims in connection with unlawful competition or any similar provision, act or regulation in the jurisdiction or country in which the liability arose.
  • Liability or loss of property from pollution, contamination or seepage (with conditions as stated on your policy schedule).
  • Injury, damage to property or direct or indirect liability arising from war, invasion, act of a foreign enemy, hostilities, civil war, mutiny, insurrection, rebellion, revolution, military or usurped power.
  • Employer's liability.
  • EU liability.
  • Legal defence costs.
  • Products liability.
  • Spread of fire.
  • Wrongful arrest and defamation.
